If you are a true fan of the galaxy far, far away you must surely must have heard about “Star Wars” TV show that is being developed by ABC! By the same token, you’ve had your heart broken time and time again by promises of live-action adventures from Lucas film. The president of ABC Entertainment Channing Dungey said that she would “love to say yes” to a series. But it could end up being a huge disaster as philosopher George Santayana once famously remarked: “Those who cannot remember history are condemned to repeat it.”
With that threat looming in the background as we are set to follow the story of “Star Wars” from the big screen to the small screen, let us look at five things that went horribly wrong Lucas film’s “Star Wars.”Let us see why it makes us wary this time around too.
1. Wookies Show
Without any beating around the bush, we shall directly focus on the worst thing to ever come out of the “Star Wars” universe. I am referring, of course, to the extremely difficult to watch part of the show that focused on Chewbacca’s non-verbal family.
You might say that no one in the right mind working on the new Star Wars TV show would be bonkers enough to give airtime to men in walking fur carpets roaring and pointing at each other incomprehensibly. Well, to that I say, somebody once thought it a good idea. Enough said.
2. ‘The Godfather’ in space
Back in 2005, there was a pitch for 2005’s “Star Wars: Underworld.” But really, it was more of a “The Godfather” meets “Deadwood” in space. This just sounds utterly confused. Anyway the show was meant to aired between “Revenge of the Sith”out and “A New Hope,” and the announcement garnered a lot of media attention much like this latest ABC news.
Fans anticipation reached fever pitch when they heard about the one-hour show to be produced by George Lucas. It was no mean task as fifty scripts were written before somebody finally realized that the cost of producing the show was way too much.Fortunately, not a single episode ever aired.
