11. YOU PROBABLY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE VOICE OF BEAR.
The animated bear who pulls Eglantine, Emelius, and the kids out of the ocean is voiced by Dal McKennon. In addition to this, McKennon was the voice behind Gumby, Archie, and different little parts in Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmatians. He’s the same person who tells riders they’re going to appreciate “the wildest ride in the wilderness!” before they board Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney amusement parks.
12. THE REAL MAGICAL BEDKNOB IS STILL AROUND.
It’s presently at the Walt Disney Archives, housed in a show case in their reading room. Various other Bedknobs props at the Archives incorporate the Isle of Naboombu book, Professor Emelius Browne’s bag, and Eglantine Price’s flying broom.
13. THE WHOLE MOVIE WAS SHOT IN CALIFORNIA.
In spite of the exceptionally British setting of the film, almost the whole film, including Portobello Road and the manor scenes, was shot at Disney Studios in Burbank, California. The only shots filmed other than this location were some scenes of the Nazi troopers. These were shot at a beach close-by.
