2. Nintendo Entertainment System: 1985
The video game crash of ’83 left the business in shambles. It reached a point where it was indeterminate whether we would ever see a home gaming console hit the market again. That was until Nintendo drew out its 8-bit console known as the NES and had each child on the planet asking Santa for one each Christmas. The NES controller set the standard for future gamepads with its D-pad and four-button format. What truly attracted buyers to the console was its monstrous inventory of great games like Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, Contra, Mega Man and hundreds more. The NES not just left us with ageless memories; it also saved the computer game industry. Keep this in mind that when you’re lining up for the PS4 or Xbox One this Christmas season.
1. Sony Walkman TPS-L2: 1980
Sony’s mobile sound gadget revolutionized the manner in which we listen to music. It gave us the advantage of listening to whatever we needed and at any volume. This was a genuine achievement at the time. The most vital model of the pack was the TPS-L2 with its double earphone jacks for two individuals to listen to. It also had an innovative Hot Line button that toned down the commotion and made it conceivable to spy on conversations through an in-built mic. The Walkman fuelled owners to channel their inner Michael Jackson at any given minute, while giving us excitement and comfort on the go.
