Now that news has come out about Disney’s acquisition of the main assets of 21st Century Fox which will mean that the Fantastic Four and X-Men are all set to merge with the MCU, actor Michael Chiklis has shown interest in once again playing his character of The Thing.

“Could it be clobberin time? #Disney #FantasticFour,” Chiklis stated on Twitter, and the tweet also had an image showing The Thing landing a punch on the Incredible Hulk.

Chiklis had played the role of The Thing in the 2005 Fox movie Fantastic Four as well as its 2007 sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While both the films did well commercially, they didn’t get any critical praise and received scores of 27 percent and 37 percent respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes. He was joined in those two movies by Joan Gruffudd as Reed Richards, Jessica Alba as Sue Storm and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm.

Once it became clear that the Fantastic Four will soon be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Evans had a laugh about taking up his earlier role for a team-up film with his present character of Captain America.

There are no details or casting information related to a prospective Fantastic Four film by Marvel Studios. The Fantastic Four franchise received a reboot in 2015, but, that film was rejected by fans and critics alike. Therefore, Disney might just relaunch the franchise afresh.
