Zachary Levi is all set to go to Toronto for the filming of the DC superhero film Shazam! Very few people had expected this DCEU project to progress so quickly, especially considering the turbulent start. Geoff Johns disappointed a lot of people by declaring that Dwayne Johnson’s character Black Adam won’t be a part of the film.
Shazam’s main enemy had seemed to be a certainty for the movie. Thus, the fans were certainly heart-broken. Sometime later, the decision to cast Levi further divided the audience and the response was stronger than anticipated by DC. The poor performance of Justice League was not encouraging by any means.
However, the movie’s production seems to be going on well, and the fast-tracked start is certainly a sign of positivity. The film has finalized its cast in last few weeks, and upcoming actors such as Asher Angel and Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) joined the cast recently. Other fresh faces such as Grace Fulton and Jack Dylan Grazer (IT) also came on board in November. The veteran actor Mark Strong is expected to be the lead villain, and things are really shaping up well for Shazam!
The cameras are scheduled to roll in February, and it seems that the movie’s star is planning to get a head start on the project. Levi teased fans on Instagram about the upcoming start of filming earlier by live-streaming his journey to Toronto. Have a look at a clip of the live stream provided by Twitter user Flashcyborg.
It’s heartening to see Levi all excited about his biggest film till date. The 37-year-old actor surprised all by getting cast as Shazam! However, it seems that the fans are finally making peace with the casting choice. He is charming on and off screen, and he might just be the best choice for the character.
The DCEU had a mixed year in 2017. Wonder Woman received critical appreciation and success on the box office, apparently putting the DCEU on track, whereas, Justice League took the opposite route. With a lot of fans discussing about the possibility of an alternate version of the movie than the theatrical one, the DCEU would do well to get as many positive vibes as it can right now. Let’s hope Levi and team do well in Shazam!
