In December last year, we came to know that Disney had finalized a deal worth nearly $60 billion which will allow it to purchase most of 21st Century Fox, and own the rights of several superhero characters such as X-Men. Although, the deal still has challenges to overcome, Lauren Shuler Donner, the producer of all the X-Men films beginning with the 2000 film X-Men said that she is keen to work with Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios to see the X-Men debut in MCU.
“Look, it’s 18 months [away], so who knows,” Donner told Rotten Tomatoes. “For me, I think Bob Iger is one of the smartest men in the country. Alan Horn’s an old friend. Kevin Feige was my intern and assistant and then my associate producer on the first X-Men. Kevin and I started the X-Men together, so for me, if we work with Kevin, I’m happy.”
X-Men: The Last Stand from Brett Ratner, which had come out in 2006 was the last time that Donner and Feige worked jointly to executive produce. Feige had earlier been an intern for Lauren Shuler Donner and her husband, Richard Donner, the director of Superman: The Movie.
Donner also talked about Bob Iger, CEO, Disney and Alan Horn, Chairman, Walt Disney Studios in her statement.
The next film from the X-Men franchise will be Deadpool 2, which is set to release on June 1. The untitled film stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, TJ Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Leslie Uggams, Jack Kesy, Karan Soni and Eddie Marsan.
