Willem Dafoe may have had a role in the DC Extended Universe (Vulko) but Villain Daily has unearthed four pieces of fan art that have imagined the actor as DC’s Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker.
The Internet has selected its own candidate for the role, and Dafoe is the latest addition to the list. Hollywood stars who have received the makeover treatment are Christian Bale (The Dark Knight Trilogy), Jackie Earle Haley, Tom Hiddleston (Thor: Ragnarok) and Leonardo DiCaprio, who was tipped for the role back in September.
These rumors have resided, though it is worth mentioning that chances of DiCaprio signing on for The Joker were slim in the first place. And that is even when we factor Martin Scorsese into the equation, who serves as the project’s producers. This might be, artists ‘@WillGray_06’ and ‘@jeffstahl_art’ have rendered Willem Dafoe as Batman’s arch nemesis, and the two-time Oscar nominee certainly looks the part.
Willem Dafoe is no stranger to playing a villain. In the early days of Hollywood’s comic book, the actor tortured Peter Parker as the Green Goblin.
Could Warner Bros. be bucking tradition and taking Willem Dafoe to play DC’s Clown Prince of Crime? The Joker offshoot is beyond the confines of DCEU and is considered to be a separate beast. At 62 years, we can imagine this actor is old for what is an origins movie, but it is fun to speculate what could have been.
