Is Avengers 4 going to give us a ride across the river of time? Things indicate towards such a thing for sure. While Avengers: Infinity War is preparing for a release, the director duo of Joe and Anthony Russo has been working hard for the last several months on the presently untitled sequel. Now some new set photos have been leaked online, and they indicate that the Earth’s mightiest heroes might zip across time and go back to a famous location from an earlier Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

The fresh batch of Avengers 4 set photos show Robert Downey Jr. as Iron-Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk. It seems as if they are all having a good time, but, a more careful look makes you realize that there is a great deal more to it than just some friendly banter in between the shots. Evans is seen wearing the earlier Captain America costume from The Avengers movie. The set also greatly resembles the Battle of New York that we witnessed in the debut Avengers film.
In case that’s what it is, it implies that Avengers 4 is going to feature time travel. What else could be the reason for Ant-Man being present during that battle with the Captain who is wearing his old suit? Then there are also some weird gadgets that we can see the cast wearing on their hands. These might be the devices which keep them linked to the present day when they go across the time. These devices also look very similar to what Illuminati wore in Avengers and Secret Avengers comic books from Marvel.
We are yet to watch what all happens in Avengers: Infinity War, but, it is quite likely that Thanos will be in possession of a complete and working Infinity Gauntlet, comprising of all the Infinity Stones, during the Avengers 4. If things really came to that, then the film might witness time travel. That would also result in huge repercussions because time-travel and tampering with the past have almost always resulted in reshaped future. Therefore, this could be the thing that reshapes MCU dramatically.
There is an unprecedented hype around Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. Watching the MCU superheroes traveling through time would definitely help the films justify that hype. It might even make everything complicated too. As of now, we need to wait and watch. Some of the stars such as Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth have already finished their work on Avengers 4, scheduled to release in cinemas on May 3, next year.
