There is a lot working in favor of Justice League. However, it has one achievement over all others, and that’s ultimately showing the Superman film that we always wanted.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Justice League, be warned if you haven’t seen the film already.

Initial trailers and TV spots had hinted at a much lighter and a preferable sense of humor, however, in the typical fashion, the key aspect of the film was ignored during the promotions, and that was its story. That’s how DC has now got a great Superman film.

Why? There are many reasons, but, let’s start with the opening scene. It might appear irrelevant to a few. However, those critics might appreciate the effort that went into making a hero out of a savior, and that’s what fans across age groups have been wanting to see, rather than seeing a divine power who looks down upon the subjects from the sky.

That scene got the tone going, and Justice League wanted to create something to be compared with. That takes us to Superman’s super comeback. The League resurrected him by using one of the Mother Boxes, and there are some sparks that fly when the League is faced with their ex-ally. The Superman was not fully back, but, confused about being back to life and it was a great contrast.

Superman takes on the entire league and showcases his incredible power that could cause chaos without a conscience. There are some rib ticklers incorporated for fun (Flash flashes to mind), the sequence is at its best when Superman grabs Batman. While Clark chokes the Dark Knight, and his words ‘so you won’t let me live, and now you won’t let me die‘ hit like thunder and it’s perfectly rounded off by the “Do you bleed?’ Line. Shortly after that, we see the emotional Superman who meets Lois and his mother, Martha. This is a new Superman at peace with himself, and that’s what we had been missing in his earlier movies. Without any confusion, he instantly gets back to playing the protector and is no longer bothered by the perception of others, but, just focused on what all he could do.

This was the ideal contrast to his true comeback to form when he sided with the League to fight Steppenwolf. The Superman that we see here is absolutely confident and unlike what we saw in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. While the doubts might still exist, but, once he is out on a mission, he only focuses on doing the job, and that enhances the belief among others about their own capabilities too.

It is almost as if the Superman of Justice League simply emerged out of comic books and displayed his incredible power while always caring for others. That’s what the real Superman is about, and it is for the first time in DCEU that fans have finally met the real Superman that they had been looking for. Check him out for yourself!

Justice League is playing in cinemas all over the world now.
