The super success of Wonder Woman has made its sequel a certain possibility. It will take a while for WB to come up with any official announcement but a few 4chan leaks are good enough to tell us that Wonder Woman 2 is certainly in the making. With that being the case, there are already a few rumors regarding the presence of Patty Jenkins doing rounds on the Internet. As per a report in THR, WB is yet to open negotiations with Patty Jenkins for Wonder Woman 2 which means that the Monster filmmaker’s deal might just be over.
Not just that, it is said that we might have either Cheetah or Circe as the main villain and also that the studio is looking to cast a “big female lead” to star alongside Gal Gadot. Interestingly, Gal Gadot had said a while ago that she’d love to have Halle Berry in the film, playing her love interest. It remains to be the seen whether the “big female lead” will feature as a villain or as a love interest for the titular hero. But that’s what rumors are supposed to do, make you think over them.
As for the plot is concerned, we are set to see a leap of time with Diana taking up the center stage in modern time. And we will also have our Wonder Woman returning to the home of superheroes, America. So, if you’re dreaming of another Parisian adventure, wake up!
A few days back, the DCEU had movies slated for release until 2020 but owing to their troubles over the Flash movie, their plans have become uncertain. As for now, they’ll be holding all their plans back until the release of Justice League this autumn. Also, with Aquaman, Batgirl, The Batman, Nightwing, Gotham City Sirens, Shazam!, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Justice League Dark and Green Lantern Corps already slated, the sequel’s release is surely nowhere near.
Globally, Wonder Woman has managed to bring in $571.8 million which are good enough for DCEU to confirm a sequel. Even if confirmed, there will two major questions that remaining unanswered about it.
