Bloodshot, the first ever big-budget feature movie to be based on a character for Valiant Comics, will start its production by summer. Bloodshot is set to star Vin Diesel as the hero, Ray Garrison, a super-soldier who was created by Project Rising Spirit.
Harrisoin’s powers come from the “nanites” which get into his bloodstream and then gives him many powers, and this includes the ability to recover from any trauma by taking in protein.
This process which had given him the powers had installed many identities into his brain and created a lasting identity crisis. Bloodshot has not really known his actual identity, and he does not have a life outside of ‘Bloodshot.’
The Bloodshot Reborn series where he tries to have a normal life can be a huge influence on this feature movie as it may ground this character. The idea of implanted identities was not to dehumanize him, but it was done in order to give him personal motivations for new missions.
His original purpose was to hunt and capture rogue superhumans with mental powers. He then broke through the programming and tried to learn the truth about who he was.
Created in 1992 by Don Perlin, Bob Layton, and Kevin VanHook, Bloodshot’s backstory owes something to Wolverine, who was the product of a clandestine experiment and had given him a healing factor. Logan’s past was unwritten while Bloodshot was created.
When Valiant had relaunched by 2012 after almost 10 years without any new comics, Duane Swierczynski then reinvented Bloodshot for a whole new line.
Eric Heisserer and Jeff Wadlow will be writing the movie for directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. Nothing else is known about this project, although Jared Leto seems to be in talks to play the villain, Angelo Mortalli.
