Thor: Ragnarok unleashed several big changes for the God of Thunder and the people of Asgard. Will the changes be permanent?

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for Thor: Ragnarok

During the climactic battle of Thor: Ragnarok between Thor and his sister, Hela, the goddess of death hurled her sword at Thor’s face and gouged out an eye which gave him a closer resemblance to their father Odin, than ever seen before.

Chris Hemsworth is a huge star, and his face is well known. Thus, a lot of fans believe that the change must be a temporary alteration to Thor’s appearance. In fact, when we saw Thor during the Avengers: Infinity War footage during Comic Con, there was no eyepatch.

“Some of the commercials for this film have him not missing an eye,” Marvel Studio’s chief Kevin Feige highlighted this during an interview with Collider while referring to the footage that they had used cleverly in TV spots and trailers. “So you don’t know what’s going on. Like we didn’t want to spoil that in any of the footage we shot. No, we didn’t think about that. We thought about what’s fun for the character. What’s cool for the character. Not ‘Are we sullying our good-looking actor?’ He looks good in any way. In any way, shape, and form.

This means that the footage of Avengers: Infinity War that we saw at Comic-Con was manipulated. Does it mean that Thor has permanently lost an eye?

“I didn’t say that,”Feige says. “I think Thor will…either way; it could happen.”

We have already got the confirmation that Thor will be without an eye in Avengers: Infinity War. The future is anybody’s guess.
