5. Sigourney Weaver
Then: This kickass woman is best known for her kickass role in Alien. She gained critical recognition and applause with her role in that movie before wowing us in a red dress in ‘Ghostbusters.’ But for the purpose in hand, let us remember how much we loved her as Dana Barrett.
Now: After the thumping successes, Weaver would go on to reprise her roles in both ‘Ghostbusters II’ and ‘Aliens.’ The latter earned her an Academy Award nomination. In recent memory, she was seen in ‘Vamps’ and the USA mini-series ‘Political Animals.’
6. Rick Moranis
Then: Did you know that the role of Louis Tully in ‘Ghostbusters’ was originally written not for Rick Moranis? It was conceived for John Candy but ultimately the role went to Ramis’ fellow ‘SCTV’ alumni Rick Moranis.
Now: Moraniswas very successful in the ’80s. He ruled the decade with ‘Little Shop of Horrors,’ ‘Spaceballs’ and ‘Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’(particularly loved this one). After a string of hits, he took voluntary retirement in the ’90s to take care of his children following the death of his wife. Aside from acting projects, he recorded a Grammy-nominated comedy album, ‘The Agoraphobic Cowboy.’ That aside, he has sort of vanished from showbiz. Rumor has it he would return to play Louis Tully in ‘Ghostbusters 3.’ Our fingers are crossed.
