CW has announced that the 2017 Arrowverse crossover will be titled as “Crisis on Earth-X,” which is a story that will see the Arrowverse heroes battling their evil doppelgangers from an alternate earth called Earth-X, which is in a universe where the Nazis had won the World War II.

The iconic DC Comics artist Phil Jimenez who is renowned for his art of Wonder Woman has designed a dedicated comic book cover which pays homage to the annual comic book crossovers. As per the official summary:

With all of the heroes in town to celebrate Barry and Iris’s wedding, villains from Earth-X crash the festivities with a deadly agenda.

The heroes, as well as the villains of that alternate Earth-X, will also be featured in Freedom Fighters: The Ray which will be an animation series based on that planet and having The Ray in the lead role. There is no confirmation as of now about the possible presence of Uncle Sam, The Ray or other Freedom Fighters in this battle of superheroes from Earth and their Earth-X doppelgangers.

We conceived this year’s crossover to be evocative of the annual Justice League/Justice Society crossovers we grew up with and looked forward to as kids,” Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, executive producers said in a release. “Phil was the perfect choice to bring the comic book cover iteration of this idea to life. You can count on one hand the number of artists who could compellingly represent so many characters in a single image. Phil is one of them. And his design invokes the cover of Justice League #207, which was the 20th Annual JLA/JSA crossover. Our ten year-old selves are in heaven.”

Some of the first DC Comics I ever read were those insane crossovers with a dozen characters from alternate earths and dimensions — the kind of stuff I later became known for!” Jimenez said. “So when CW asked me to do an homage cover inspired by those amazing team up covers, I couldn’t resist, the chance to draw all of The CW’s DC Super-Heroes in one crazy action sequence was insanely fun and exciting. And Romulo Fajardo’acolors brought everything to life!”

The 2017 crossover is a four episode series that will air on two nights Monday, November 27th, and Tuesday, November 28th on The CW. For this annual crossover event, Arrow will air a special night on Monday at 9/8c after Supergirl. However, all other DC shows will follow their regular schedules.
