Co-director of Avengers: Infinity War, Anthony Russo has described the movie as heist and revolving around Thanos stealing the Infinity Stones. The MCU has been building towards the arrival of Thanos for 5 years and next year, audiences will get to see the destruction and turmoil that this Mad Titan brings. Everyone’s favorite heroes will be brought together to try and stop him.
Things will go Thanos’ way during Infinity War and audiences will spend a lot of time meeting the Avengers’ biggest nemesis. Thanos has been described as the main character of Infinity War, a movie the Russos have said to be a heist movie.
CNET had spoken to Anthony and Joe Russo about Avengers: Infinity War and had asked them what the fans could expect when it comes to this movie subverting genres. They have been inspired by heist movies for Infinity War, using it to approach the way in which Thanos takes possession of the 6 Infinity Stones.
With “Infinity War,” the new element to this movie is Thanos and the fact that he is entering the storytelling in a bold way, to the degree that he has almost one of the leads. We have shaped a great narrative around him that in some ways leans on a heist movie in the fact that he is going after the infinity stones.
The heist elements at play should provide the movie with a different sense of energy than other MCU movies. The focus on him with the heist angle will be a great combination. Him being a step ahead of the heroes will keep them on the defensive and even add more angst to viewers.
It helps tease how the movie will play out, with Anthony saying Thanos’ plan is big and bold. Thanos has been burned in the past by trying to have others doing his bidding, but now it is time for him to be the aggressor. It will hopefully not be much longer before a trailer is released.
