The superhero physique has undergone a great deal of changes over the years, and heroes such as Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Chris Evans (Captain America) took on the chiseled Greek God shapes to play their respective roles. While some of the actors get the chance to genuinely shape their bodies according to the look,  David Harbour, the star of upcoming Hellboy Reboot was supported by a little bit of special effects, which he admitted to on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Have a look at Harbour’s response to his new look in the video below at the 7:10 mark.

In the interview, Harbour clarified how he used to have a “Dad Bod, “and Colbert shared a photo from the Hellboy film to counter that statement. The host said, “None of that’s CGI, right?” and Harbour replied, “Not a single bit, man. I don’t know why people complain about ‘fake news,’ because fake news works in my favor, in terms of this. That’s all me, 100%.”

Although Harbour had to be supported by some special effects to get the look of the monstrous superhero, he did undergo a physical transformation from his earlier look in the series Stranger Things. Since the filming is over on the superhero movie, Harbour said that he is going to get the dad bod back.

“I’ve already started the donut training. Six donuts a day! We’ll get there, folks,” Harbour told Variety.

The Netflix series shows Harbour as Hooper, a police chief pre-occupied with coffee and donuts, rather than thinking about how he would appear without a shirt.

“The fact is for years I had been trapped in a certain narcissism and a desire to have a certain body and look sexy,” Harbour admitted. “The fact that I got famous and become a sex symbol around my normal frumpy love-handled self is so gratifying. And dare I say culturally gratifying as well.

“What makes someone sexy in my mind is who they are. It’s not necessarily how they look. If you have a dad bod, if you wear it well, and still shake your hips pretty good, I feel like you too can be a sex symbol! I think that’s what we should venerate as sexy. Not people who eat organic chicken all day and spend nine hours at the gym. That’s not a society that I really care about.”

Hellboy is scheduled to release on January 11, next year.
