Gotham has not given fans a fully formed Batman, but they are working through the character’s library of villains. Gotham season 4 will step things up and bring us classic Batman bad guys and the latest one is on a stranger side of things. The episode of Gotham will unleash Solomon Grundy who has been teased.

The first look at Drew Powell as Solomon Grundy comes from a TV spot that hypes episode 5 of Gotham season 4, which will debut on Thursday, October 19, on Fox. So, Solomon Grundy will not be born on Monday, but based on the brief look, it appears that he will be brought to life. He has the pale skin, the build, the suit, the white hair and the lumbering walk. It is from what we see in the TV spot. Here is an official synopsis for episode 5 of Gotham season 4.

“Nygma comes face-to-face with Butch Gilzean, but he is not who he used to be. In an attempt to regain power and identity, Nygma decides to put his former partner’s skills to the test. Meanwhile, Sofia Falcone takes action to protect her own life by appealing to Penguin’s vulnerable side. With the power of the dagger in his possession, Bruce surprises those around him with his bold actions in the all-new ‘A Dark Knight: The Blade’s Path’ episode of Gotham.”

Solomon will cross paths with Edward Nygma, aka Riddler, in the episode, which will make things interesting. For people who may not be familiar, Solomon Grundy was a corrupt man named Cyrus Gold in comics. Here, he is a Butch Gilzean. The character met death in Slaughter Swamp and brought back as a powerful, immortal monster. Every time Grundy dies, he comes back to life. Sometimes as a monster and sometimes an intelligent monster with brains and strength.

Aside from Grundy, the episode will have David Mazouz’s Bruce Wayne going toe-to-toe with Ra’s Al Ghul, but he seems underprepared. The season promises to give fans a fully-formed Batman. Maybe next season we will have a full-on, live-action Batman TV show.
