The other day, it was reported by Watchers on the Wall that the part of Harry Strickland has been grabbed by actor Marc Rissmann who will now lead the Golden Company terror group in the 8th season of Game of Thrones.
This is a big blow to fans who had been keen to see Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) once again unite with Daario Naharis (Michiel Huisman) who was her ex-lover. Daario had debuted in Season 3, and he eliminated the leaders of the group called Second Sons and took over of the mercenaries. He had a relationship with Daenerys after owing allegiance to her, however, by the time Season 6 ended, Daario and the Second Sons had to stay back at Meereen to maintain the peace.
It was the terror background of Daario which prompted fans to anticipate his comeback in Season 8 as the leader of Golden Company aided by Cersei Lannister, while he secretly prepared to double cross the Lannister army from inside. While this seemed to be a noble conjecture, it never had much logic because The Golden Company has always been the rival to the Second Sons and a joint leadership of the two groups was anything but likely.
If we don’t get sentimental, then it seems to be a great casting logic to select Rissman for the character of Strickland. He is a German who has previously worked on epic costume dramas, and he has great rugged physique suitable for the role as seen in his Instagram grab below:
We believe that the powers to be at Game of Thrones have taken a great decision.
