Marvel has been ruling the big screen, and on the other hand, DC fans have plenty to enjoy with TV shows such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirls and Legends of Tomorrow. Marvel has also revamped its video game arsenal. However, everyone is now eagerly waiting for the next game offering from DC.

Let’s have a look at what the upcoming Batman game and other possible DC gaming options have in store for us.

Batman

Ever since its unveiling in 2009, The Arkham series Batman games have been the core of DC’s video game universe. What we don’t know yet is whether the next Batman game will be a part of the Arkham series or be a new series altogether, but, it is doubtlessly under development as you read this. A little bit of chit chat happened early last year when Byte-Size impressions of the game were released:

  • The lead character will be Damian Wayne
  • Story is not based in the far-off future
  • Batmobile will make way for Batcycle
  • Batcave will be upgradable
  • Gotham City will be much bigger and with an enhanced immersive experience.

In case you are not familiar with the extended Batman saga, Damian Wayne happens to be a violence prone son of Bruce who was reared by the League of Assassins. He briefly played the role of the Batman, but, is known as one of the Robins.

The accidental confirmation for this Batman game came through a recruitment video released by WB Games Montreal which showed an under-development Batman game on the computer screen of one of the developers.

Since the game has not been officially acknowledged, we have no information about its release date, and we guess this game won’t have the shark-punching option either.

Suicide Squad

Next let’s delve into the world of gossip and disappointment. For quite some time, we had expected a Suicide Squad game is under development at WB Games Montreal; now we hear that it has been dropped. The earlier rumors that we heard about the game first appeared on NeoGAF which put up these details:

  • The game is a street fight.
  • Players can create their characters and game levels.
  • It had co-op gameplay option.
  • The game had “Borderlands-esque” settings.

Although afterward nothing was heard of this game. Later Kotaku’s sources informed that a shakeup at WB Games Montreal resulted in this game being dropped. There were probably some issues with the developer who might also have been working on the Batman game mentioned above.

Superman

There is hardly any more credence to the Superman game rumors than the rumors that we heard about the Suicide Squad game. Apparently a self-claimed ex-employee of WB Games or Rocksteady who goes by the name Leakguin on Reddit had shared some inside information about a secret Superman game being in the works at Rocksteady.

This is the only bit of information that we came across regarding this game, and it has been over three months with no further word about it apart from what might be leaked concept designs. While we know that a game takes years to be ready and this Superman game might indeed be under production, but, it is just that we have no information about it as of now.

Now that Marvel is stepping up its gaming domination, it is disappointing to see DC still banking only on the aging Arkham series despite having such an impressive galaxy of characters at its disposal.
