She was born to parents Franklin and Deborah. Raised in a Jewish Family, Nancy’s life was one filled with ups and downs, too many of the latter. As a child, although she excelled in academics, she was a recluse and barely had any friends. She was also known to be a violent child and had even threatened to kill her babysitter once.

At 15, after an attempted suicide, she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Post being expelled from college, in 1976, Nancy flew to London and it was here that she had entered into a relationship Vicious who was a band member of the group Sex Pistols.

Their relationship was a rather erratic one where there were instances of drug abuse and even domestic violence. After the disbandment of Sex Pistol, Nancy and Vicious returned to New York in 1978 and became heavily addicted to Heroin. They were residing in Hotel Chelsea and stayed there taking drugs.

In October 1978, Nancy’s body was discovered in the bathroom of the hotel with a single slash on her abdomen. The murder weapon was believed to be Vicious’ and he was arrested on suspicion. Shortly after being released on bail, Vicious succumbed to Heroin overdose before the murder trial could start. Nancy’s death initiated several conspiracy theories and had even influenced the works of bands like Horror Business.
