The now trending hashtags, #MeToo and #TimesUp against sexual misconduct has got its new target, Stan Lee, co-creator of Marvel Comics.
Many women have opened up and accused Lee of sexual misconduct, and he has responded by saying that these accusations were “categorically” false.
Daily Mail reported that Lee was accused of the following by a few nurses who were working in the West Hollywood home:
Lee has been accused of sex abuse by nurses who cared for him (for upwards of $1,000/day), and they then stopped working after many complaints.
The nurses complained that he groped a few of them, walked naked and even asked for oral sex.
Stan Lee’s lawyers sent a cease and desist letter to this company and accused them of defaming Lee.
This the official statement from Stan Lee:
“Mr. Lee categorically denies these false and despicable allegations and he fully intends to fight to protect his stellar good name and impeccable character. We are not aware of anyone filing a civil action, or reporting these issues to the police, which for any genuine claim would be the more appropriate way for it to be handled. Instead, Mr. Lee has received demands to pay money and threats that if he does not do so, the accuser will go to the media. Mr Lee will not be extorted or blackmailed, and will pay no money to anyone because he has done absolutely nothing wrong.”
The nursing company does not intend to reveal its name. It has also been reported that after some complaints, the owner of the company had hit her breaking point. The company alleges abuse, and Lee is countering them with a claim of defamation.
A new company, Vitale Nursing Inc., is now handling Lee’s care, and rep, Julie Wozniak says that Lee is “polite, kind and respectful,” and that “It has been a privilege care for him.”
Many unnamed sources are painting conflicting pictures. A source has claimed the truth of the entire situation:
“Stan is an old man who has seemingly lost his way. He doesn’t seem to care what people think of him; he’s lost his filter. There has been a stream of young nurses coming to his house in West Hollywood, and he has been sexually harassing them. He finds it funny. He walks around naked and is vulgar towards the women, he asks them for oral sex in the shower and wants to be pleasured in his bedroom. He uses the word p***y and f**k in their presence. He’s also very handsy and has groped some of the women, it’s unacceptable behavior, especially from an icon like Stan.”
Lee’s confidant, Max Anderson, has also been accused of “intimidating and frightening” nurses. Anderson has had many convictions for domestic abuse, so this really does not help his situation.
Lee had a pretty tough 2017 as he lost his wife to whom he had been married to for 70 years. He was also robbed of $300,000.
