Peggy Carter is now becoming Captain America in the alternate reality of Exiles. Carter, a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the one to win Steve Rogers’ heart, has pretty much been a fan-favorite. Her status had skyrocketed when Hayley Atwell had nailed this role in Captain America: The First Avengers.

She led the Agent Carter TV series for 2 seasons, and had voiced Peggy in Avengers Assemble. She then appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We do not know what the future holds for Peggy and Atwell in the MCU, but there is a whole lot of options. Her fans are campaigning for Peggy Carter to join Captain Marvel. Marvel had released the May solicits: Exiles #3. Written by Saladin Ahmed, this take on Exiles has a lot of press thanks to characters like Wolverine, Kamala Khan, and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie.

With artwork by Dave Marquez, the cover for Exiles #3 brings together Blink and Wolverine with Captain Carter. In spite of the character’s history and Marvel’s parallel universes, this is the very first time Peggy takes on Cap’s mantle in the comic book world. In 2016, Marvel had celebrated its 75th anniversary of Captain America and had introduced alternate takes on this character in mobile games. Future Fight had received an alternate universe child of Steve and Peggy, Sharon Rogers who was a futuristic take on Captain America and she is getting a Funko, but she is yet to appear in the comic books. Puzzle Quest had introduced Peggy Carter as Captain America which was complete with a video explaining the history of this character.

After Steve had been assassinated before the Super Soldier Program, Peggy had become Captain America. The story is not far from how Spider-Gwen had been conceived, and she has dominated the comic world. Exiles is borrowing from the Puzzle Quest version of Captain Carter.
