Kit Harrington aka Jon Snow revealed why the Game of Thrones unreleased pilot required re-shooting.
Harrington gave an interview to The Guardian, and he revealed that the pilot featuring various leading characters, had to be trashed after it failed to imbibe the tone and ambiance of the fantasy novels by George R.R. Martin.
“They made a lot of mistakes. It didn’t look right, didn’t feel right, had nothing different about it,” Harington said. As per the actor, Jon Snow as shown as clean-shaven and he had to put on a wig.
Once the pilot drew flak, the showrunners D.B. Weise and David Benioff started afresh and recast various actors. They replaced Tamzin Merchant with Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen. Harrington also maintained a real beard and long hair during the reshoot to ensure that Jon Snow had a more rugged appearance.
Harrington never personally saw the trashed pilot. However, he said that Benioff and Weiss at times joked about letting it release on the net. “They say, if I ever piss them off too much, they’ll release it on YouTube,” Harington said. “Every now and then, they send me a screengrab, just as a threat.”
