The stipulated two-hour runtime and the extensive reshoots necessitated several scenes being deleted from Justice League, and now the director Kevin Smith (Clerks) has apparently verified that there was a scene depicting Darkseid that was deleted and we only heard him getting mentioned in the movie.
Kevin Smith has expressed his support for the campaign related to the release of the Zack Snyder version of Justice League, and he opened an article and started reading some changes that took place between the film’s initial screening and its ultimate theatrical version.
“Superman joins the fight and teams up with the League to defeat Steppenwolf, however, at one point, Steppenwolf tries to tempt Superman into joining his army, ready for this,” Smith mentioned on his Fatman on Batman podcast. “This made me so f**king angry, and we see Darkseid for the first time in Superman’s vision, and we see flashes of the nightmare footage that Batman had in Batman v Superman. However, Superman snaps back out of it and delivers the final blow to defeat Steppenwolf.”
A person present at the podcast’s recording and had also seen the earlier screening of the movie reiterated the article’s authenticity for Smith. She also observed that Darkseid’s appearance in the earlier screening wasn’t completely “finished.”
The petition demanding a Snyder version of Justice League now has over 150,000 signatures. There is a possibility of Darkseid being a part of the movie on the Blu-ray/DVD release as one of the deleted scenes.
Justice League is currently playing in theaters and the film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Raymond Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Amber Heard as Mera and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
