With Black Panther having established a groundbreaking franchise for the MCU, many fans are now looking for a sequel, with huge ideas for storylines. And now, there is a pool of villains to nominate.
And there is one person who wants to nominate himself as the villain in a Black Panther 2: movie- Kendrick Lamar. During an interview, he had been asked if he would like to be part of a Black Panther sequel:
‘I really enjoy Killmonger’s character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain, but he came with some real [talk]… He was a villain, but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger for sure.”
While the role of Killmonger had been taken over by Michael B. Jordan, there are a few Marvel Comics villains who have been being tied to Black Panther. Two foes are Killjoy and Achebe. They both were related to the storylines of Wakanda being under threat by Africans.
Killjoy may seem like a more fitting one for Lamar, as the character is much more of a henchman and assassin which was once sent by Wakanda’s neighbor, Canaan, for killing T’Challa. Achebe is also a great character, but as a political manipulator, Achebe will require an actor with more charisma. Lamar would do well with the Killjoy.
Black Panther is now showing in theaters. Other upcoming MCU movies include Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
