Justice League went past the $100 million mark on the fourth day of its run by adding $7.5 million to its total in Monday box office earnings:
The film could make only $94 million during the opening weekend which was below the studio’s expectations and way lower than what early estimates and expectations were regarding such a landmark movie with top stars.
It is not a terrible thing as Justice League is already close to a $200 million total in international territories. However, it is the domestic market where things have been truly unimpressive. The Thanksgiving weekend will see the release of another family-friendly movie (the highly rated Coco from Pixar), which will further reduce the second-week scope for Justice League. However, if you are game for a plain and sleek superhero film viewing, the Justice League has enough word of mouth publicity to ensure that it does okay on the second weekend.
In the meanwhile, there is already a campaign gathering momentum demanding the release of Zack Snyder’s complete directorial version of the movie.
Justice League is currently playing in theaters and will be followed by Aquaman on December 21, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020
