Jessica Jones backstory is both sad and transformative. As a teenager, she was in a car accident with a military convoy carrying radioactive chemicals. The accident killed her family and left her in a coma. When she woke up, she discovered she had superhuman abilities and inspired by her classmate Peter Parker (aka SpiderMan), Jessica tried to become a superhero named Jewel. However, her dream was cut short when the villain Kilgrave used mind control on her for his own purposes. This traumatic experience left Jessica deeply scarred and made her give up being a superhero.
Now since she had no choice but to give up on this, she decided to become a private investigator. Jessica was seen in The Super Hero Squad Show (2009-2011), voiced by Tara Strong. In this series, Jessica is shown as a supportive friend to other superheroes. She was also in Avengers Assemble (2013-2019), voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey.
