Merced started acting after her family home in Cleveland was ruined by a fire.

Merced was a big fan of Judy Garland, so she wanted to distract her from the loss, because of which her parents asked her if Isabela wanted to audition for a local production of well-known story called The Wizard of Oz where she was cast as a Munchkin.
