DCEU is in chaos about the incessant rumors related to Ben Affleck’s departure and about there being a replacement ready for him. Fans are now wondering how the proposed replacement aka Jake Gyllenhaal would look in the Dark Knight’s costume.
The path leading to the Matt Reeves’ directed The Batman is chaotic and right from the time Affleck left the director’s chair vacant, questions have been looming about how long would he continue playing the character. Recently, we heard the Justice League star say that Bruce Wayne is not something that you can portray forever and Gyllenhaal is the guy rumored to have been chosen to replace him by Warner Bros. if things reach that point.
While Affleck is not all set to exit Gotham City right now, it is a fact that Gyllenhaal would be a great choice to inhabit the Batcave. The potentially incredible casting decision is not far, and comic book fan artist BossLogic has created his version of Gyllenhaal as Batman.
Over the years, a lot of actors have played the Caped Crusader, right from the 60s version by Adam West to the Nolan style portrayal by Christian Bale. BossLogic’s costume noticeably looks to be based on the rubber suit donned by Michael Douglas in the 1989’s Batman and Batman Returns. However, the final design would be entirely different. Reeves is planning a brand new Batman trilogy, and he needs to know that his adaptation of Bruce Wayne will hang around for a considerable period.
Gyllenhaal related rumors have received more positive response compared to the casting of Affleck in 2013. He has done great roles like Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain, and Nightcrawler. The 36-year-old actor would be a younger and more mainstream Batman than the gritty Batman of Affleck. However, Reeve’s Batman won’t be a reboot or prequel. Therefore, we don’t know how anyone other than Affleck would be apt for it.
The entire DCEU is hung in the balance right now, and Justice League has failed to be the mega movie that was expected. Therefore, the path for Geoff Johns is now illustrated. Fans are aware of Martin Scorsese planning a Joker origin film without Jared Leto. Therefore, it is not out of the question to see Batman getting replaced.
