In the ‘80s, Bob Backlund’s baby face eventually became a gimmick that would no longer cut it with some fans. However, he enjoyed a bit of a renaissance in his second run as heel in the ‘90s. Over the years, he has made several other appearances with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and with the WWE. His name became a topic of discussion once more in the wrestling world in the fall of 2015 with the release of his autobiography Backlund: From All-American Boy to Professional Wrestling’s World Champion.The retired wrestler used it as a medium to share his feelings on multiple topics and issues. Guess who is the biggest Backlund fan? None other than, the Beast Brock Lesnar.
6. Gene Okerlund
For the 80s kids who grew up watching WWE, “Mean” Gene Okerlund was the voice of the WWE. He is now something of a spokesman for the company. The former announcer has taken to promoting different WWE events and merchandise on online platforms such as twitter. He uses social medias to inform fans when he will make his appearances. As long as he is healthy and well, you can count on Okerlund appearing at WrestleMania weekend events. In 2014, Okerlund also participated in part of the WWE Network program Legends’ House.
