The upcoming Flash movie from Warner Bros., Flashpoint has now got new directors in the form of Spider-Man: Homecoming writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein who are discussing about helming the upcoming film. The Flashpoint will see Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), massively change the course of history when he travels back in time to protect his mother from getting killed.
As per a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the writer duo of Daley and Goldstein come onboard after the exit of Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), who had taken over earlier from the movie’s original director Seth Grahame-Smith. Thus, they are going to be the third set of moviemakers associated with Flashpoint, in contradiction to the rumors about Phil Lord and Chris Miller helming the project.
Besides the Spider-Man: Homecoming, Daley, and Goldstein also wrote Horrible Bosses. They have earlier written/directed Vacation (2015), and Game Night starring Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams which is scheduled to release in February.
While not much information is available about Flashpoint, rumors suggest some involvement from Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Ben Affleck’s Batman. Last November, the DC Comics COO Geoff Johns had hinted at the mega scope of the movie: “There’s elements in it that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else,” he had said. “The scale of it, the Batman story of it all.”
Flashpoint was a 2011 comic series written by Geoff Johns and featured artwork by Andy Kubert. It was about Barry Allen, who went back in time to prevent his mother’s murder. This, however, reshaped the timeline and created another reality where Barry wasn’t The Flash, and also changed several of the iconic heroes and villains of DC Universe. The story’s conclusion led to the New 52 comic event.
Flashpoint stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Billy Crudup as Henry Allen, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and it might also have Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The movie earlier had a release date of March 16, 2018, when it was titled as The Flash, but, at present, it doesn’t have any release date given.
