The big scoop for The Flash is coming up in 2018, and it is “Flash War” that will pit Barry Allen against the original Wally West.
This new development was announced at New York Comic Con when Joshua Williamson, writer of The Flash took an audience vote during the DC’s Metal & New Age of Heroes panel. When asked to choose between the two Flash versions, fans seemed to be equally divided.
“Let’s see who’s the best Flash: is it Barry, or is it Wally?” said Williamson, further stating that the “Flash War” story will soon find the answer.
“It’s me and Howard Porter starting in Flash #46,” Williamson told the audience. “In January, we have an annual coming out that’s a prelude to ‘Flash War,’ but starting in Flash 46, we go into ‘Flash War.‘”
Williamson is a contributor to the Dark Nights: Metal event, featuring Batman: The Red Death and also chapters in the upcoming “Bats Out of Hell” story, which will see the evil Batmen from the Dark Multiverse taking on their opposite numbers from the Justice League.
During this panel, DC also released an image from the Flash Annual depicting Wally West in his resurrection costume and staring in a very dejected manner at the costumes which he held in each hand: One of them was his Kid Flash costume, and the other Flash costume belonged to his pre-Flashpoint days.
