Marvel Television’s crossover series, The Defenders, is not exactly performing as well as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. In its first 30 days in the U.S, it has failed. Variety reported that the eight-episode miniseries received only 17% of the viewership that Daredevil Season 2 opened to in its first 30 days. The series had a large week-over-week drop with viewers, declining by 67%, 48%, and 41% over the first few weeks.
Netflix does not release viewing data and third-party companies viewership, so the report utilizes data from marketing-analytics firm Jumpshot. Netflix views performances over a long timeframe-more than 30 days.
Marvel Television will forge on with upcoming Netflix series The Punisher, which will see Jon Bernthal reprise the role from Daredevil Season 2. The first trailer for the series has been released though the release date for the movie date has been kept quiet for months in an attempt to build up anticipation.
Available now on Netflix, The Defenders has Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Elodie Yung as Elektra Natchios, Sigourney Weaver as Alexandra, EkaDarville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
