Recently, Ryan Reynolds said that he is interested in a crossover between Deadpool and the Avengers.
Reynolds spoke to Total Film about The Hitman’s Bodyguard and also talked about the chance of his character, Wade Wilson teaming up with the Avengers. Speaking about the topic, he said,
“That sounds like a great idea but a very expensive idea. Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great. But it would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them go…”
The mix of Avengers and Deadpool could very well make a magnificent spin-off. But doubts still prevail if it will make it to the big screen. Yes, both belong to the Marvel family but Deadpool is not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The mutants and Deadpool belong to Fox, but could we see the MCU for Spider-Man: Homecoming?
Kevin Feige has promised the fans that the end of the MCU will be by the end of Avengers 4. So we can expect Wade Wilson to will join forces with the remaining cast of Avengers. The team-up for the battle with Thanos may just be epic
Ryan Reynolds brought up yet another point which should be noted. He said that it is the cost of a movie that contains them all. Sony’s deal with the MCU had a little less leverage. This is because it was supposed to be a reboot for the Spider-Man universe. Deadpool was unexpectedly a box office hit. This means that there is a lot more leverage on Fox’s part.
Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean that there will never be a crossover between Avengers and Deadpool. Anything is possible. But it just seems improbable to do the same.
But still, there are going to be more movies by the MCU and Fox. So, fans can gear up for that. Well, just imagine- Wade Reynolds and Drak the Destroyer and Rocket trading insults, Deadpool and Iron Man. Now that’s a home-run combination.
In the meantime, Deadpool 2 is in production while Avengers: Infinity War has finished filming. The Avengers 4 movie has just started photography.
There are many versions of the Marvel coming our way. And if lucky, we may still be able to see some partial crossovers shortly.
