Playing off of the news that Disney might be very close to acquiring 21st Century Fox, Captain America actor, Chris Evans shared his idea for a crossover project. And while it is not intended as a serious pitch, will fans want to see this?
The actor had taken to Twitter to propose a comedy movie in the same vein as Planes, Trains, and Automobiles that will star Captain America and Human Torch. Both roles have been played by Evans, so even if the actor were serious, the movie would be tough to pull off.
Long before the MCU came to be, Evans had starred as Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four and the sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. He has been seen in many comic book movies, playing Casey Jones in TMNT, Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Jake Jensen in The Losers.
The Fantastic Four franchise was rebooted with 2015’s movie, but the new franchise was dead on arrival. If the deal goes through, it will not be surprising to see Disney bring the team to MCU and restart the franchise.
While it will be great to see Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, team up with Human Torch, it may never happen. Even if you discount the playfulness in his tweet, Evans’ contract with Marvel Studios will expire after Avengers 4.
