In early stages of the MCU, Marvel had become notorious for not letting their characters die. Iron Man had died in Avengers, but not really. Loki had died in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, but was not really dead. Bucky died in Captain America: The First Avenger, but again, not really.
When Quicksilver died in The Avengers: Age OfUltron, he actually died.
Though he and Scarlet Witch started off as villains, PietroMaximoff gave his life to protect Hawkeye. This was a very sad moment, whether fans liked Quicksilver because it was the first time Marvel killed off a hero.
The situation was made sadder when fans saw Scarlet Witch’s reaction. After their parents had died, Wanda and Pietro were the only family members each other had. When Pietro was shot, Wanda snapped and used her powers and destroyed Ultron drones and won Battle of Sokovia.
In Captain America: Civil War, they never acknowledged Quicksilver’s death, even though Scarlet Witch has a larger part in the movie. But he got a tribute moment that fans may have missed.
In an early scene, Steve Rogers goes to Wanda’s room to discuss the events that happened at the beginning of this movie. As they have a discussion, we can see some knick-knacks and decorations that give Wanda’s room some personality. One of these decorations is a picture is a young boy with blonde hair.
Once you see this picture in Wanda’s room, it is clear to tell that the picture is of a baby PietroMaximoff.
Captain America: Civil War was a fantastic movie with so many amazing moments, and it’s likely that quite a few clever Easter Eggs (like Pietro’s baby picture) slipped by without us noticing.
