The Avengers: Infinity War trailer is here and we some juicy insights about the heroes of the Avengers and their connections to the larger storyline about Thanos.

One character in the trailer was T’Challa / Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), who is trying to defend Wakanda from an attack by Thanos and Black Order forces. “The Battle of Wakanda” seems to be a set piece of Infinity War.

MCU fans who have been connecting the dots throughout up to Infinity War can surmise- the Avengers: Infinity War trailer might confirm the theory about Black Panther and Wakanda’s connection to an Infinity Stone.

THE SOUL STONE THEORY

The trailer for Black Panther showed us the character’s connection to a realm where he communes with “Panther Gods”. Fans theorized that the Wakandans drew spiritual strength from the meteor that had crashed into the country bringing the mythic metal Vibranium along with it. The reveal that we expect to get in the stand-alone Black Panther movie is that the Wakandan meteor houses The Soul Stone, the last Infinity Stone to be found in MCU.

BATTLE FOR THE SOUL

With the reveal that The Soul Stone is the heart of Wakanda’s prosperity, technology, and spiritual power, it makes sense that the African nation will become a target for Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War Battle of Wakanda

If Avengers: Infinity War plays like the trailer seems to suggest, Thanos will collect the stones from those hiding or protecting them. The trailer has confirmed that the Mad Titan will acquire The Mind, Power, and Space stones. If The Soul Stone is one of the final Infinity Stones on Thanos’ list, it explains why he goes all-out with an assault on Wakanda.

OTHER THINGS POSSIBLE

There can be no connection with Wakanda and the Soul Stone as well. Black Panther’s homeland may be a stronghold which The Avengers use to guard the Infinity Stones that they have.

Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on May 4, 2018. Thor: Ragnarok is now playing in theaters. Other upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies include; Black Panther on February 16, 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp on July 6, 2018, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, the fourth Avengers movie on May 3, 2019, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 5, 2019, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.
