Bethany Antonia, born on December 25, 1997, in Birmingham, England, is from amixed English and Jamaican descent and spent part of her childhood in France before returning to Birmingham. She went to Perryfields High School and studied musical theatre at Birmingham Ormiston Academy. She started acting and dancing at the age of 14 with various training programs.
Her acting career began with a short film adaptation of The Tempest and she made her TV debut at 18 in the BBC One medical soap opera Doctors. She also appeared in the BBC teen series Get Even and the Netflix crime drama Stay Close.
In House of the Dragon, Bethany plays Lady Baela Targaryen, a dragon rider with the dragonMoondancer. She was raised by strong women in her family, including her grandmother Princess Rhaenys Targaryen and later by Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Bethany Antonia joined the show as a minor character in Season 1, but her role is set to grow. In Season 2, Bethany Antonia’s character, Baela, will have a bigger role, getting more involved in the Targaryen civil war.
