Avengers: Infinity War’: The Outriders Are Here!

The Avengers: Infinity War trailers came out yesterday, and it gave us our first look of the Outriders, the latest creatures to feature in the MCU.

These four-armed beings were seen fighting Steve Rogers, Black Panther and the Wakandanarmy  in a physical combat before the combined forces of superheroes such as Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson),  Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) in his huge Hulkbusterarmor, attack an army in the plains of Wakanda.

The Outriders are a very recent addition to the Marvel Comics world, and they were first seen in the Free Comic Book Day issue of Infinity in 2013. They are a hybrid of a worker bee and the flying monkeys that we had seen in The Wizard of Oz. These creatures serve as Thanos’ scouts and foot soldiers who search for new planets which have weak inhabitants so that such planets could be destroyed if they are not able to produce something befitting the desperado Thanos.

The comics showed Corvus Glaive, a member of the Black Order, who as per the MCU are the guards and children of Thanos, term the Outriders as disposable murderers whose only purpose of existence is to serve their creator.

Outriders are not born, they are made. A genetically engineered parasite-assassin solely devoted to the whims of its maker. These creatures have no names, just a binary existence defined by whether they complete the task given to them, or whether they fail.

Although we don’t know about the capabilities of Outriders at present, they were seen to be endowed with powers such as telepathy, invisibility, intangibility, and flight in the comic books and that makes them deadlier than the Chitauri who were easily massacred by The Avengers during their invasion during the 2012 movie The Avengers.

The recently releases synopsis of Avengers: Infinity War states that all the Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, and others will battle Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his army of foot soldiers in “the deadliest showdown of all time.”

Avengers: Infinity War releases on May 4, next year.
