Hepburn first married Mel Ferrar in 1954 and had a son Sean Hepburn Ferrar after two miscarriages. They divorced after fourteen years of their marriage in 1968. She then married her second husband, Andrea Dotti on the 18th of January in1969 and had a son Luca Andrea Dotti.

Her partner was unfaithful and as a result, their marriage dissolved in 1982. She was in a relationship with a Dutch actor, Robert wolders from 1980 to her death. This icon died of appendicle cancer at her home on the 20th of January in 1993 in Switzerland at the age of 63.
