She earned an assured (major) film debut as the seductive blonde who comes between husband and wife in the sitcom I Love My Wife and was selected for a Golden Globe award.

She proceeded into the 80s, but her filming remained standard. In 1987, Tompkins seemed in the comedy film Amazon Women on the Moon and Ann-Margret in the movie A Tiger’s Tale. She made her last film appearances in Relentless and Cracke House in 1989.

She also works in the commercial voice-over field. In 1991, she was elected the national recording secretary of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).

She operated unsuccessfully for president of the guild in 1995. In the additional year, she accepted the most votes for the SAG Hollywood Board of Directors.

She ran for president again in 1999, altering her name to Angeltompkins so that her name would appear first on the ballot, and came in third.

In 2000, she recommended members of SAG’s partner union, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, to vote in order to decertify and recertify the union as part of SAG.
