It’s a moment to celebrate for the animation lovers! TBS has green-lighted two more American Dad! seasons.
As reported by Deadline, TBS has opted to go for two further seasons of the animation series, one month before its Season 12 comes out on February 12.
Upon its return in February, American Dad! will join the animated science-fiction series Final Space produced by the late-night show host Conan O’Brien, to create a one-hour long comedy block. American Dad! will be aired at 10ET on Monday nights, and it will be joined from February 26th onwards by Final Space at 10.30 pm.
The new development took place after TBS disassociated with Louis C.K. after the comedian faced various sexual harassment allegations. C.K was making an animated show called Cops for TBS.
It is not surprising to see TBS persist with American Dad!, considering how the animated series has become a key show for the network. American Dad! is ranked among the top 10 cable comedies of 2017.
“Animation has played a huge role in making us the #1 comedy network,” said Brett Weitz, EVP of programming for TBS. “We will keep the momentum going with the two season pick up of American Dad! and finally introducing the world to the brilliantly constructed misadventures of Gary in Final Space.”
American Dad! is based on a zealously patriotic Stan Smith, who is a CIA operative (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). The comedy show was earlier being aired by FOX before it shifted to TBS, was made by MacFarlane in tandem with Mike Barker and Matt Weitzman.
The upcoming new series Final Space is a comedy show about a spaceman called Gary who befriends an alien Mooncake while serving a prison sentence. It is Gary’s bad luck that Mooncake was being chased by the Lord Commander who aimed to use his alien powers for evil purposes.
Well-known YouTube maker and “Tennessee wonder child” Olan Rogers made Final Space, and the series is voiced by Fred Armisen, Tom Kenny, David Tennant, Tika Shumpter, Steven Yeun and Coty Galloway.
“Final Space has been an actual dream come true for me. I wanted to create an epic sci-fi comedic serialized animated adventure with a plethora of heart ever since I was a kid,” said Rogers. “Final Space has comedy, genuine emotion and truly heartbreaking moments. It’s been amazing to have such a great team behind this project, really working to push the limits of what an animated show can be.”
