Don’t get too excited for hogging attention on Facebook by posting pirated movies or songs via your account or Facebook pages because it can land you in Jail. That’s what happened with a guy named Trevon Maurice Franklin, who uploaded the full version of Deadpool movie on his facebook page when the movie was still in theaters. When he posted the link, more than 5 million people watched it as it got viral, and he had also recreated, and redistributed copies of Deadpool discs/Media files that are worth $2500.
The sad part about this story is that he is just 21 years old, and he didn’t know that his actions had such severe consequences. Franklin is from California, and he is just another kid from the neighborhood, who thought Copyright Warnings are just for decorations. FBI made the arrests last week, but they had traced the source of the leak back in February 2016.
His acts of piracy didn’t make a dent to the overall earning of Deadpool film because the movie successfully grossed more than $ 780 Million Dollars internationally, but in the past, many movies got destroyed because of leaks like these.
Things like these seem safe when you do it because it is freaking easy, but the consequences of getting caught are extremely harsh. Stop using torrent clients and other illegal means to download copyrighted material because 30 major Entertainment syndicates including CBS, Netflix, Amazon, etc. have formed an active consortium for fighting copyright transgressions and finding ways to simplify the process of tracking such criminals so that they can be sued easily.
