7. The Rogue One escapes rather easily
The rebels were truly limp about letting a seized Imperial ship with a rogue captains and an Imperial defector, Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed), simply run off with around two dozen of their troops. How they slipped onto the ship unnoticed is a secret since Cassian instructed them to bring “everything that isn’t nailed down.” You’d think they’d attempt to stop the breakaways before they shoot off on a mission that totally counters the consensus of the chamber. Rather they watched them go.
8. Vader simply watches them go
Once the few residual rebel forces at Scarif figured out how to get in their escape pod with the Death Star blueprints, they leave from the main ship and gradually buoy off into space. Darth Vader remains standing there, simply looking at them while they go. On the other hand, his followers are saving nary a blaster bolt towards them. They weren’t even utilizing hyperspeed, and we recently observed the skies going all black with TIE fighters. Therefore, why didn’t anybody attempt to take them out before they reached Princess Leia with her “new hope”?
