5. A few ’80s-Era Prequels
After the release of Return of the Jedi in 1983, in an interview, Lucas talked about his creative procedure in composing the original trilogy. He further mentioned how that influenced his tentative arrangements for Star Wars motion pictures and brought forth two extremely solid conceivable outcomes. Essentially, Lucas said he cut out two thirds of the first A New Hope script. This was basically the backstory about the ascent of Darth Vader and a young Obi-Wan Kenobi. “All the prequel stories exist,” Lucas had stated. Those two thoughts turned into an expansive part of the prequels that Lucas made between 1999 and 2005. Nevertheless, he was already pondering about prequels at the peak of Star Wars craziness in 1983. Films that would’ve been created in the mid-to-late ’80s would likely have been vastly different from The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith.
6. An R2-D2 and C3-PO Independent Movie
When Lucas was composing the motion pictures that would turn into The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, he concocted an idea for a Star Wars offshoot film. This was roughly 35 years before “cinematic universes” or spinoff motion pictures like Rogue One were something Hollywood had even considered. He thought of a few ideas for a film about robots without any people in it. While points of interest are sparse, one can presume that his idea was for a film about R2-D2 and C3-PO faltering into wacky adventures all over the universe. It never got made, despite the fact that there was a Saturday morning Star Wars cartoon that was aired on ABC amid the 1985-86 season called Droids. Apparently, it had the same idea.
