Although Tom Holland’s Spiderman: Homecoming was critically acclaimed, Homecoming lacked where Tobey’s Spiderman 2 was fully packed. Here are a few reasons why Spiderman 2 was a way better movie than Holland’s version:
Aunt May was closer to the comics
Even though Homecoming had shown a younger and hotter Aunt May, which was the liking of audiences, Spiderman 2’s aunt was more truthful to its comics. Rosemary Harris in the movie looks the part and gives the filma soul.
Romance is more compelling
Peter Parker is a character who had a touching relationships with love interests and the movie, Spiderman 2 had shown a great chemistry between Peter and Mary Jane and Spider-Man: Homecoming just touches upon his love life a little.
Peter is more believable uncool
Peter Parker in the latest movie had been portrayed as a smart character and in Spiderman 2, Peter was a dorky and smart-ass and this is the correct interpretation of what Peter is.
The Train Scene
Spider-Man: Homecoming was a movie of action and gave a big nod to the train-stopping scene from Spiderman 2. The original scene great and can never be remade with the same intensity.
Shows More Hardship in Peter’s Life
A crucial aspect of Spider-Man which Spiderman 2 had nailed that Homecoming did not is that most things never go well for Parker. He loses his job, cannot pay rent, loses his powers due to angst but things were cool for Peter in Homecoming.
It Has J. Jonah Jameson
Jonah Jameson is an iconic comic book character who is head of Daily Bugle and the role was played by J.K. Simmons in Spiderman 2. He wasahighlight of the Spiderman series.
Doc. Ock is the best Spidey Villian
Michael Keaton as The Vulture is the best thing about Homecoming. But Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock is gold for comic book villains. He is the best villain interpretation ever.
Spiderman 2 is more emotionally intriguing
Everyone knows of Spider-Man’s origin and it does not need to be shown again, but not showing Uncle Ben’s death matters. Homecoming touched on his absence in a scene and avoided it for the movie.
