3. The iconic opening crawl was created in a very unorthodox way…
Star Wars wouldn’t be Star Wars without the opening crawl to tell us what we are about to be thrown into this time. But did you know for the original trilogy the whole thing was shot manually? They used a camera and physically rolled the text underneath it to create the iconic look.During the prequels however, this created a dilemma. It seems no one kept good notes for just exactly what was used to createit, and it took quite a while to match the fonts used (3 in total,) angle of the words crawling up the screen, as well as the speed. Plus now it all had to be converted to digital…you know cause science and stuff…so something we would see as an easy thing to do, was actually quite a task for makers of the prequels to match successfully to the original trilogy.
4. Empire Strikes Back uses the most stop-motion animation
Out of all the movies, the one that used the most stop-motion animation was the Empire Strikes Back. While we would assume most of it was the AT-AT and AT-ST’s in the film, it would be amazing to see just exactly how many hours went into capturing all the stop-motion shots!
