We are living in the era of reboots, and there is another great show of the 90s that is on its way to make its comeback on our TV screens via NBC – “Xena – The Warrior Princess”. NBC has already ordered a pilot for the show; we may even get to see the series as early as 2nd quarter of 2017. The script is currently being written byJavier Grillo-Marxuach, he is one of the best heads in the TV industry, he is a co-writer for the shows like “The 100” and “Lost.” Here are a few things that we got to know about the Xena the warrior princess reboot:-

1) Both Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Conor Are “NOT” going to reprise their roles.

In one of the interview, Grillo-Marxuach has clearly mentioned that both the lead protagonists of the original show are not going to play the same roles.

“Lucy Lawless and Renee O’Connor are not going to be Xena and Gabrielle.”

However, when the team of Den of Geek asked Lucy Lawless about her involvement in the reboot, this is what Lucy Lawless said:-

“I’m probably not up for that gig. I can’t imagine how you could tell the story with me at 47-years-old and make it work.”

However, she also indicated that she would love to be the part of the show in another way if possible like playing some other role. This news has pissed a lot of fans but looks like Grillo is just going to use the name of the series and will be changing a lot of things. Sounds like typical reboot strategy for grabbing the cash.

2) The New Series Is Not A Sequel Or Continuation.

Xena dies at the end of the original show, and fans thought that new show is going to pick up right where it was concluded, just like the new X-files but Grillo has said “NO” to this. This is what he told:-

“I think if you jump in with the full meta as if you were picking up where the original left off, you are inadvertently undermining the universe for everyone who doesn’t already understand its rules intuitively.”
