We love superheroes, and there are many of them who are incredibly powerful. They are frightening in the sense that they are highly loved and regarded by fans. At the same time, there are some superheroes who might not possess the most bulging muscles or physical power, but, in case they turned rogue, they would put the existence of the world under immense risk. Let’s have a look at them.
Ant-Man
Ant-Man can be really devastating as a villain. Why? Because he could become so tiny that nobody will see him coming and his tiny frame would allow him to cause great damage in unforeseen ways. You would know what he destroyed only after he is done with his mission.
Batman
Batman is a dark and intense character who is always treading along the thin line separating heroes from villains. That’s a line he has not crossed, but, if he ever does, he would be a fearsome villain. He is known to single-mindedly devote all his faculty and energies to accomplishing his mission, and he would leave no stone unturned in destroying humanity if he so wishes.
Scarlet Witch
So far only a brief glimpse of Wanda’s powers was seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron when she was under the villain’s influence. True that she regained her senses after finding out what Ultron planned for Earth’s inhabitants, however, if she were to unleash an attack on humans, nobody would be able to stop her. She would simply make people kill each other and won’t have to do anything on her own.
Cyborg
Doctor Silas Stone’s son gets gravely hurt after encountering an alien who appeared when an experiment by his parents went wrong. This resulted in his father using the mother box’s powers to protect his life, and he got an enhanced vision, endurance, strength and cybernetic abilities. He can control the internet and cause unprecedented chaos.
Captain America
Recently we came to know about Captain America being revealed as a HYDRA agent. This must be a terrible shock for all Marvel lovers when they realized that Captain America is and forever has been a HYDRA guy, not just any ordinary one but also a Nazi. This decision of the editors has made fans and other MCU people furious. Throughout the time, the war hero was hand in gloves with the villains, and nobody had any idea. Now that he is officially a villain, fans express more anger than fear, but, they must be afraid, very afraid.
Martian Manhunter
The Martian Manhunter is one superhero who is more powerful than what has been seen so far. He is easily the mightiest DC hero, and if he goes dark with his powers such as telepathy, shape-altering, intangibility, super-strength, and ability to morph into a scary dragon, he is capable of wiping out humans as well as other superheroes.
The Spectre
The Specter is among the most frightening anti-superheroes from the comic books. He is the guy who is the spirit of revenge, and he got his powers after his death. His origin story goes like this – he was on his way to attend an engagement when three criminals waylaid him, poured cement on him after putting him in a barrel and then drowned him in the river, causing his death. After his death, he meets a voice of the Darkness which asks if he is seeking revenge on his killers. After that, he is none other than a soul who seeks justice for others. He can’t be touched, but, if he goes rogue, then unimaginable consequences would follow.
Black Bolt
The monarch of the Royal Inhumans is also the mightiest of them all. All he needs to do is to utter a word, and that’s enough to cause tremendous damage. Therefore, he is mum of his own volition, but, if he did go crazy, he is capable of destroying anyone who tries to stop him.
Orion
Orion is among the New Gods of the DCU. He has battled Wonder Woman and Superman. He is reportedly as powerful as Darkseid and is powerful enough to blow up planets. Such a mighty God is better kept away from the evil.
Iron Man
Iron-Man is the most sarcastic character in Marvel Universe. He is a super rich, philanthropist, playboy, Tony Stark who has built his own armor to battle villains and hit on pretty ladies. In the comics, it didn’t happen so easily, but, when a terrorist called Wong Chu activated a trap and exploded a bomb causing shrapnel almost to pierce Tony’s chest, and Tony created a suit that protected him such an eventuality. This also led to the idea of Tony becoming Iron-Man. He is a billionaire and can build scores of suits, all of which are capable of causing serious damage to the world.
Wolverine
Wolverine is a hero, but, he is famous for his anger and over the years, his anger has frightened several of his X-Men colleagues. He doesn’t mind killing, and if he becomes a villain, then he might unleash a bloodbath if anybody tried stopping him.
Sentry
It is natural for everyone to be scared of Sentry if he goes dark. Sentry has the power of a million exploding Suns, and he is not someone to be messed with. In a 2010 miniseries, Osborn came back and took control of the government, killing anybody who tried stopping him. Sentry was one of his allies who was manipulated into attacking Asgard, where the Olympian God of War Ares challenged him. Their duel ended with Sentry tearing Ares body and scattering his organs all over the place. That was really gory for Marvel. However, it is enough to give you an idea of what kind of a threat Sentry would be.
Ghost Rider
Johnny Blaze has managed to rein in his internal demon, but, if the demon did get out of control, then he would burn the souls of all the people. He is generally on edge at all times, and it would only take nothing more than one bad moment for the demon to take charge. He looks scary, and his actions would be scarier if he were to be a villain.
The Flash
Do you remember Flashpoint? It was just about a restless Barry Allen, who was feeling lonely and missing his mother and one evening, he went back in time to save from getting killed. This action of his messed up with the timeline causing great changes. Bruce Wayne died, and his father became Batman, a full-fledged war was unleashed on the Amazons and Atlanteans which caused a global crisis. Just think about it, here is a guy who can do this kind of things and alter the way the world is. He runs so fast that he can destroy the antimatter. If he chooses to misuse his power, not even Batman alone would be a match for him.
The Hulk
Hulk is already a monstrous risk for anyone near him as he is prone to go berserk from time to time. We have seen bits of the kind of destruction that an enraged Hulk can cause. If he goes on full throttle against Earthlings, nobody would be able to survive. Hulk going rogue is probably the scariest nightmare ever.
Doctor Manhattan
Doctor John Osterman was a nuclear physicist with a very humble and kind nature, but, one day he accidentally got caged in his intrinsic chamber, resulting in an instant death. After a few days, he began to re-emerge. Initially, just as a nervous system, then a skeletal body and later as the muscular frame. Now he has become an almighty cosmic entity, who is well beyond the space-time limitations. He can be present at multiple locations simultaneously and travel across the Earth in a fraction of a second. He can’t be killed, and he certainly is one guy who must not go rogue.
Charles Xavier
Charles Xavier possesses the most powerful brain on the planet and if he goes dark (a scenario which almost happened in the recent X-Men film), he can cause apocalypse because he has the power to make anything he wishes and he is unstoppable.
Superman
Superman is the symbol of truth and justice, and it is his nature that we are not able to realize how much he seems to restrain himself. What if he stops doing that. The Injustice comic book storyline is about Superman going dark. He caused unimaginable damage on Earth. He is capable of taking charge of the entire planet and doing whatever pleases him with his powers. In case he doesn’t exercise restraint, he would easily destroy planet Earth.
Doctor Strange
After being a victim of a deadly accident, after which Dr. Steven Strange lost the capability of using his hands. After that, he went to Nepal and was trained by Monks, and that’s where he got his mystical powers. He is the most powerful sorcerer in the universe, and he has managed to modify time as well as beat death. If he became someone like Dormammu, then only God can save the world!
Raven
Being the child of an inter-dimensional Demon has its own benefits. Trigon’s daughter Raven is an incredibly powerful magician, and her powers include healing, manipulating shadows, foresight and being able to transform herself into a demon. Occasionally, she is overwhelmed by her powers and loses her good side. That’s when she becomes a mighty challenge for her team, and if such a thing became permanent, then she would wipe out humanity in the blink of an eye.
