10. ORSON WELLES WAS NEARLY DARTH VADER’S VOICE
When George Lucas was picking the voice of Darth Vader, he initially had Orson Welles, the cinematic mammoth of Citizen Kane, The Third Man and Transformers: The Movie, at the top of the priority list for the part. Nonetheless, it was concluded that Welles’ voice was excessively recognizable, thus James Earl Jones was taken for the role. Now, James Earl Jones is viewed as a standout amongst the most conspicuous voices in silver screen. While other voice performers have gone ahead to be the voice of Darth Vader in animated shows and computer games, Jones is associated with spearheading the Sith Lord’s great voice, and others lives in his shadow.
9. DIDN’T ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET
Darth Vader is known for his notorious helmet. However, this was not part of the first plan. Initially, George Lucas envisioned the Sith Lord as wearing a dark silk scarf over his face. Ralph McQuarrie, who concept art for some cherished characters, outlined the helmet as an alternative or an addition. He envisioned that Darth Vader would wear the helmet when moving between ships. In the end it was chosen that the character would wear the helmet constantly.
